The Laboratory of Paleovolcanology and Metallogeny carries out complex fundamental research in the field of the theory of endogenous ore formation and paleovolcanology.
The Laboratory was organized in 1984. It consisted of employees of the Geochemistry and Ore Deposits Sector, established and managed in 1960-65 by P.F. Sopko; in the years 1965-70 – by V.A. Prokin (Laboratory of Endogenous Metallogeny) and in 1970-1983 again P.F. Sopko (Laboratory of Magmatism and Metallogeny). From 1983 to 2006 the Laboratory was headed by Doctor of Geology and Mineralogy I.B. Seravkin, in the years 2007-2012 – by Cand. of Sci. in Geology and Mineralogy A.M. Kosarev. At present, the team of the Laboratory is headed by Doctor of Geology and Mineralogy S.E. Znamensky. Basic research activities of Laboratory:
